Musical Theatre

Grade 2+

Triple Threat

noun

An elite performer who excels at acting, singing and dancing.

About the Program

Introduced by LPD in 2023, the Music Theatre and Vocals program was a pioneering initiative in our region. Building on the success of our first production, Disney’s Frozen, we went on to present our second production in 2024 with Disney’s The Little Mermaid. As part of their participation in the recent productions, students were invited to audition for character roles. This unique experience not only allowed them to showcase their talent but also provided invaluable insights into the world of Music Theatre.

Workshops were conducted by industry professionals, including Dan Cosgrove, with whom we continue to work extensively. The Workshops played a significant role in shaping our young performers and their understanding of this type of production. Our students were exposed to various aspects of Music Theatre, fostering their appreciation for the art form. Along the way they forged lasting friendships and developed values such as discipline and commitment. These skills will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavours

For 2025, our Music Theatre and Vocals program continues to evolve, with students now required to enrol in both the Drama and Vocals components. In addition, they will choose a complementary dance genre such as Ballet, Jazz or Tap, which will further enhance their performance skills. This approach will enable students to become proficient in the key areas of Music Theatre, known as the “triple threat” of singing, acting, and dancing.

We look forward to welcoming your child to this exciting program and working with them to develop their skills and talents as they explore the world of Music Theatre.

Our Musical Theatre & Vocals classes are a form of theatrical performance that combines singing, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. Students learn excerpts from famous musicals and singing techniques, as well as learning scripts and short dance sequences. The focus is to learn valuable performance skills to be the ultimate triple threat performer and participate in our LPD Music Theatre productions. Students must select a dance genre such as: Ballet, Tap or Jazz to maximise the benefits of Music Theatre and Vocals program.

  • In our experience pre-schoolers are able to concentrate better without the distraction of other noise in the room from parents and siblings. As pre-schoolers participate in classes they have the opportunity to develop additional secure attachments with adults (teachers) and peers. This helps them transition positively into the larger world and helps with readiness for school. Having said that, a lot of children are timid at first and need to know that a parent is close by. Our program allows parents to watch the first class if necessary to help them adjust.

  • These performances are not compulsory for our tiny dancers but you must let us know if your child wishes to participate so we can accomodate accordingly.

  • There are no refunds on term fees regardless of the reason for the absence including sickness and public holidays. Make up classes are available, please email for appropriate class times. Once a term has commenced there is no refund for any mid- term withdrawals; you are obliged to complete the term. We must be notified in writing before the new term commences so that the appropriate changes to the account can be made. Simply no longer attending classes is not considered a cancellation, we must be notified in writing of your intention to withdraw.

  • Small adjustments may need to be made to your child’s costumes when they are sent home. We ask that parents assist us by making their child’s costume user friendly and stage ready. All costume hire costs are built into your fees. Students should have already purchased tights and shoes for their classes.

  • Our Kinder Dance, Ballet and Acro classes work on a Pay As You go (PAYG) system. We accept cash or card at the studio at the time of your class.

Our Ready Set Dance classes are paid on a direct debit basis over the 37 weeks of the year.

  • You may swap days if you miss a class (as long as the make-up class is not full). We do recommend that you avoid alternating days too much as pre-schoolers need the comfort of knowing that the same teacher and their friends will be there when they go to dancing. Please notify us if you require attending an alternate day.
