Performance Opportunities
As a Performing Arts School we actively encourage students to participate in all performance opportunities. The chance to be onstage develops a sense of pride and allows students to celebrate their achievements with their skills learnt in class.
At Lisa Pellin Dancers we offer several performance opportunities. Student participation is not compulsory and remains purely at your discretion. However, we do strongly recommend everyone being part of the show.
Our Performance Team Members also compete in many competitions throughout the year. Please see our 2025 Events Calendar for specific details.
Once you have decided to be part of any performance event there are responsibilities and obligations as a condition of your dancer’s participation.
Annual Mid-Year Showcase
For many of our dancers the Annual Mid-Year Showcase represents the highlight of the dancing year. The Showcase is held in late August at the Wonthaggi Arts Centre. Every Showcase is unique, and each explores a central theme.
Preparations for the Showcase commence over twelve months in advance, as there are many considerations which require meticulous forward planning.
·Selection of Showcase theme
·Selection of music
·Choreography
·Costume design, acquisition & decoration
·Teaching and learning the routines
·Technical considerations such as: sound, lighting & props etc.
For these reasons, a child’s participation in the Showcase must be confirmed at the conclusion of Term 1. Only those students who are unavailable are asked to indicate their intentions not to participate.
Every dancer will have the opportunity to perform one item for each class genre in which they are enrolled. The Sapphires group whose class genre includes Jazz & Tap Combo will perform in two separate items.
End of Year Display
The End of Year Display is a more low-key event held on the last weekend of our dance year. For new dancers this is a wonderful opportunity to experience being onstage for the first time in a more relaxed atmosphere. The End of Year Display is held at Mesley Hall in Leongatha and always includes a happy Christmas theme.
To assist in planning, a child’s participation in the End of Year Display must be confirmed at the conclusion of Term 3. Only those students who are unavailable are asked to indicate their intentions not to participate. Every dancer will have the opportunity to perform one or two items in the performance. Some Performance Team Members will be required at both performances.
